All this talk about Brazil...
...reminds me of our big trip to Malta. Yes, that trip to Malta. Although there was heartbreak, there were so many fun memories. Here's some of my favorites (and not so favorites) in no particular order:Flying into London's Gatwick airport and hanging out at their "mall/terminal". I felt like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible with my leather jacket on. Someone left their purse at the security check-in and delayed us.
Getting picked up at the airport by a lovely married couple and explaining that Laurie and I were not a couple (even though I wanted us to be). The female also told us to go to "MMM-Dina".
Seeing the Mediterranean Sea from our hotel bedroom that I shared with Moe and Liza.
Walking around the town with everyone and taking pictures.
Doing our gigs all over the island, especially at that hospital/school and it's festive streamers on stage. Oh, and the game show that we were on that no one understood.
Staying up late in the hotel lobby and getting everyone in trouble for being loud and drunk.
Having our pow-wow and crying like a you-know-what.
Coming up with the "who would you "date" in the troop both male and female" question that everyone had to answer. Laurie didn't say me, that sucked, but I said Fides anyways.
Seeing all the different churches in the different towns was nice as well.
Going to Moshta and buying that Indiana Jones whip for a dollar.
Being a fifth wheel.
Partying on new years at the club and not hearing Prince's "1999" when it turned "1999".
Hearing Cher all over the place with her "Do You Believe In Love" song.
Seeing Rome and all of its history.
Being with Likha has opened up so many doors that I have to look back sometimes and appreciate those times. Those of you lucky enough to go to Brazil should give it 100 percent. Sure there will be time to bitch and moan but don't forget that Likha has built a reputation that allows it to make these wonderful tours. Come back with a boatload of memories.

And you did a very good job keeping the blue glass flower/picture frame you gave me!!!
You forgot a couple:
And I quote, "Kuya Rudi is Obi-Wan man!"
Not sure if you were there still but the best was when everyone jumped in the pool in their underwear after our last performance. Can I say, Ed & his tidy whities!
We did miss the pool party. I thought about the rudi quote but I wasn't sure if it was "Yoda" that I called him =)
OT comment...

thanks for the words of advice/inspiration!! :)
dood, ya know I will have memories, see 'cause I wasn;t in Malta and now you're not in this one. Y'all need to come back, although I know it's tougher now.
my favorite is not john buying the whip, but him taking an indiana jones stance outside of the store, and then cracking the whip while people were walking by.
i also like the pictures of sam adorned with a paseo umbrella and jimmies.
not only were people walking by...people were coming out of the stores to see what the racket was!
here's a couple more...
anchilla getting a phone call early in the morning from the filipino association asking her how come we didn't tell them we were going to be in malta. like we knew there were going to be filipinos there.
the hater woman at the dinner party thrown by the filipino association who was dissing us... ed's wonderful comment to her..."we may not be professionals, but we do love what we do" (classic ed). i just made sure i ran into her with my big ol' guitar case, by accident of course.
the parade.
the pool thing was fun!
-i recall the time we took a little boat tour into those damn caves even if it was chilly out and ed doing his impersonation of mufasa a la the lion king!
-the family that owned the restaurant after our cave tour and took pics with us
-the new year's eve pool party/eurotrash techno club afterwards
-the performance at the old folks' convalescent hospital and a little old lady asking me if we were chinese.
-the filipino party - who knew they'd have lechon in malta!?
but you're right john, a family will always have drama...but it has good times too! i admit i was a lazy bum during that tour and probably not very helpful, but i learned a lot from that experience and was very humbled by it and i wouldn't want to go back in time and change any of it...geez i think i was only 18 then!
thanks for reminding us of that...oh and joanie still includes her black and white malta pics in her portfolio :)
good luck to those going to brasil :)
wow, i wish i could have been there.
wow, you brought back some memories!
