Ok, this sucks...

There are so many responsibilities in owning a home that some things are bound to fall through the cracks. We thought we had our water bill set to be paid automatically through our checking account but apparently not. I hadn't checked the mail in about 2 days and because of that, we missed a notice that the water was going to be shut off on 10/4. It's now 10/6 and the water is off. We're staying at my parents house so we can at least do the little things to get through the day. You really take advantage of running water when you're here in the states. This is no real comparison but our problem sure is miniscule compared to those affected by Hurricane Katrina. That water wasn't and still isn't available in so many areas for weeks on end. I can't imagine having to go through that. How about my Pilipinos in the PI? Now there are some people who don't get water. Anyways, I'm gonna take a half day so I can get this resolved. I'm down to my last days at BofA so no big deal.

i hear that! we went to vancouver for the wedding and a mini vacation, and came back... lo and behold.. no phones! we've been so extremely busy we've forgotten to pay our phone bill... which was already way behind.
at least there was running water.

in the phil. up in the mountains, there's always the water pump, or at least the communal water box that directs spring water from the mountains. and of course the, er, communal "big hole in the ground". but there's nothing like flush flush, plumbing plumbing. we still have it good, so long as we remember to pay our bills. (kind of enjoy the silence of not having a phone... no solicitors during dinner time!) :-)

When our water heater busted, it took me about 1.5 days to replace it. We didn't want to fill an unflushable toilet and took showers at my uncle's house. Water is one of those things we shouldn't take for granted.
