Yes, it has been months since I've last blogged...

We're at my parent's house tonite, Tuesday, keeping my mom company. My dad came down with pneumonia and has been at the hospital since Sunday night. He's going to be ok, but it's shocking to get a phone call telling you your dad is in the hospital.

I've been wanting to blog but as I told ya'll, the internet time at my job is almost none. When I do go on the internet I have to go to a stand-alone (yes, a stand-alone) PC where everyone knows you're doing something on the internet. Now, I can see the benefits from a business perspective as far as keeping workers productive but as a LAN tech it's definitely not helping me. I'll put in a request soon enough for an internet PC at my own desk but I definitely miss my PC at BofA. I had such a good routine there and I was productive, one of the top producers so I know that I'd be able to pull it off here as well. One other thing at work. Since I am the LAN Analyst for HR I'm also responsible for HR reports. My biggest report this year has been the Affirmative Action Plan that I'm working on. I have to gather all the data and feed it to this program, then come up with a presentatiion for my boss to use for the top heads. Now, I'm all for Affirmative Action, but man, these reports suck when you have to put it together. I guess that's the pill I have to swallow. Here's a big nugget you can use for those people who say they are against Affirmative Action. When they say that skin color shouldn't matter or that you're getting a job because of the color of your skin, let them know that the group that gained the most from Affirmative Action is White Women. Not Blacks, Asian, Latinos but the Black man's kryptonite, White Women.

Deejaying has been fun this year as well. I've been doing a lot of friends and family gigs but I've got some weddings coming up as well a Grad Nite for Alameda High that's going to be a long night. Gotta get my "Hyphy Movement" music together for that with some E-40, Keak the Sneak, the Federation and of course Mac Dre. I'm looking to fill up the calendar with some gigs for the summer after the trip to the Netherlands with Likha as well, so if you know anyone that needs a deejay, let em know!

The Warrior season fizzled and they missed the playoffs, again... I stopped working a lot of the games since our stupid assistant manager tried to cut our hours and prevent us from working there outright. She made a mandatory start time of 5:00pm for basketball games and since I couldn't get there till about 6:00pm, she told us not to bother to sign up for the event. She had brought in a lot of new people, many younger students from Cal, St. Mary's and USF, thinking they would be able to phase us out. Well, they started to flake out as well and so she had to call each one of us and ask if we could work, even at a time of our convenience. Everytime she called I wanted to laugh in her face and say I told you so but I became so disgusted with her that I could barely even look at her much less talk to her. She's an idiot.

As you may know, I've been against the war in Iraq from the beginning. Bush had been and has been lying about the whole thing since it's inception. But now it's starting to hit closer to home. The wife has a cousin who signed up with the Marines and although he hasn't been called to Iraq, it's on our minds that the day may come. And then I did a gig and saw my ex's mom who said their son is in Iraq. He joined the Marines after he had a child and is doing work as an air traffic controller. He was like a little brother to me. She says that he's ok, and that he's in the Green Zone, but still, they pray every night. I think about him everyday as well and pray for his safe return.

I miss reading all of your blogs and posting to them. I'll try to catch up with you but it really has been a long time for me and it's going to be difficult. I really feel out of the loop and "not in-the-know" since I've been away. I guess this is my 2nd quarter resolution.
